Happy PI Day 3.14 ⭐️

This is one of my favorites ❤️ Pi Day !

Yesterday in class we celebrated by measuring circles of all sizes, watched a fun video that explained Pi and measured Oreos .. Yumm! Ofcourse they all measured out to Pi so that was fun to see.

My favorite activity was to have the whole class stand up and form a circle. We then measured our diameter and multiplied it by Pi (3.14) which gave us the circumference. We then divided the circumference by the diameter and it equaled Pi . So fun!

I also challenged the students to write 3.14 on a white piece of paper and head to the mirror.. it should read PI.E as long as your four is a closed 4 .

I hope you have fun today learning Pi ⭐️

Sight Word Recognition

This was a fun activity to work on for sight word recognition. Make a sheet of various sight words and coordinate dot stickers with the same sight word . As you call out the sight word , the students will find the sticker , then locate on their paper and cover up the word with the sticker.

This was a bit of a learning curve .. for my own little one I gave her the whole sticker sheet and that was way to difficult to try to find the word. For my class , I decided to do it in stages with one strip of stickers at a time. That worked so much better!

Schilter Family Farm

We took a day off from school to enjoy a new pumpkin patch , Schilter Family Farm 🎃
.
It was so much fun! It is a beautiful location and well laid out. We were able to do the corn maze , which was Top Gun themed and the maze was cut into jets .. so cool! I really appreciated that they had a Q code of the maze so you could find your way out of there within a reasonable time . There are some mazes that I feel like we are in forever so this was a great option.
.
We also enjoyed riding the tractor . It dropped us right in front of the pumpkin patch and we were able to pick a pumpkin.

.
Another fun treat we enjoyed were some Apple cider doughnuts and a cup of yummy apple cider. Delicious! It was the perfect treat to end our time at the pumpkin patch .

American Girl Doll, Book, homeschooling

American Girl Doll History~McKenna Brooks

What better doll to start with on our new doll lineup then McKenna Brooks. She is from Seattle , Washington and dreams of being a gold medalist on the Olympic team . She loves gymnastics but really struggles with reading . As her story unfolds , she is teamed up with a tutor, Josie. As her friendship develops with Josie, we see McKenna grow in maturity and we see how they both help each other in their friendship .. so good!
.
We also learned about the history of the Olympics and gymnastics.
.
We added our sticker to Washington State for the geography of where Mckenna lived .
.
Our craft for Mckenna was a balance beam for our dolls. This was such a fun project ! We started by wrapping the beams in colorful duct tape. Some of the students decided to leave them unwrapped so their friends could sign them. The students also had the opportunity to hammer their legs onto their balance beam.Thankfully no one hammered their fingers .

.
Our Tea party was the highlight! We had Oreo cookie medallions .. Yumm! And Cheeto torches made out of icecream cones. So cute!

.

And we had lots of opportunities to shop! The students earned class money from doing homework pages . I have attached them below ⬇️

Spring Farmers Market

Our Homeschool Coop hosted a Farmers Market this past week and the littles had fun making items for it.
.
We made pickles , dirt cups, wood swords, s’mores bars and I had several Mickey Mouse Keychains leftover from the 5k we did do I took those also.

It was fun to see the littles take inventory and sell their items. They were so excited when something would sell.
.
Overall, it was a fun successful event. The littles are learning valuable business skills and having fun as they do⭐️

American Girl Doll, homeschooling

Marie-Grace~American Girl Doll History class⭐️

Marie-Grace & Cecile from @americangirlbrand was one of our Dolls of the Month.
.
The story takes place in 1853 in New Orleans and is full of history, an epidemic, and a friendship that transcended all social barriers at that time.

Most of the people in New Orleans at that time spoke French so it was fun learning a little french and speaking it at our tea party.

For our tea party we served chocolate drizzled croissants , scones and walnuts ( for our take on pralines)

We played a game from American Girl instead of doing the vocabulary bingo and the girls loved it!

The girls then decorated masquerade mask for their dolls and for themselves.

Such a fun day!

Teaching Time with Lego

Teaching time is so much fun with @lego @legoeducation ⭐️
.
They are the perfect size math manipulative and are a great way to teach the students there are 60 minutes in 1 hour.

I set the clocks to different times and had the students tell me the time displayed. I then had the students set the times I called out. It was a great way to practice reading clocks and it was super easy to implement ⏱Double win!!
