Visiting the American Girl Dallas Store: Tips, Photo Spots, and Our Family Experience

Weโ€™ve been on a mission to visit all of the American Girl stores across the United States, and on our recent trip we were able to check the American Girl Dallas location off our list.

Oh my goodnessโ€”it was such a beautiful store! I mean, who am I kidding? They are all beautiful. But right when you walk in, youโ€™re greeted by a bright, open space with the cafรฉ off to the left. This was actually the first time weโ€™ve seen the cafรฉ positioned so openly near the entrance. When the store was still in Seattle, the cafรฉ was on the same floor but still felt a little more tucked away.

Everything felt bright and inviting. We loved the wall filled with picture frames of past dolls and booksโ€”it was such a fun way to celebrate the history of the brand.

It was also fun exploring all the different themed rooms throughout the store. One of our favorite discoveries was a party room set up for a special gingerbread house event. It looked like the perfect place for a doll-themed celebration.

One of the things that makes the Dallas store extra special is that itโ€™s part of the newer American Girl experiential store design. The two-level space is about 14,700 square feet and even includes a stunning floor-to-ceiling dollhouse display that stretches between the floors. Between the full cafรฉ with tea trays and treats, the Doll Salon where girls and dolls can get matching hairstyles, and all the fun photo spots throughout the store, it really feels like stepping into a unique doll world.

One of my girlsโ€™ absolute favorite parts was the oversized book seat. We seriously need one of those in our house! It looked like a giant open storybook that you could actually sit on, which made for such a fun photo moment.

Book bench! Itโ€™s a Samantha book ๐Ÿ“•

Next, we headed up the staircase, which was again lined with beautiful framed images of the dolls and their books. On the second floor is where youโ€™ll find the doll hair salon, which is the perfect stop to have your doll styled while you continue shopping.

Love this wall!!

There were so many fun things to choose fromโ€”it was honestly hard to decide. But I think thatโ€™s always the case whenever we visit one of the American Girl Doll stores!

As I watched my girls explore the world of American Girl โ€”from the dolls and stories to the little details that spark imaginationโ€”it reminded me how special these moments of childhood are. There is something beautiful about watching kids step into stories, dream big, and create their own adventures.

Sometimes as parents we get busy planning the trip, managing the schedule, or figuring out the next stop. But moments like this remind me to pause and simply enjoy watching them experience wonder.

Childhood is such a gift, and these little adventuresโ€”whether itโ€™s a hike, a road trip, or even a visit to a doll storeโ€”become memories that stay with our families for years to come.

โ€œEvery good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.โ€ James 1:17

Tips for Visiting the American Girl Dallas Store

If youโ€™re planning a visit to the American Girl store in Dallas, here are a few tips that can help make the experience even more special.

๐Ÿซ– Make Cafรฉ Reservations

The in-store cafรฉ is a popular spot for families. If you plan to enjoy tea, lunch, or a special treat with your doll, itโ€™s a good idea to reserve a table ahead of time. The tiered trays with tea sandwiches and desserts make it such a memorable experience for girls and their dolls.

๐Ÿ’‡ Bring Your Doll for the Salon

Upstairs youโ€™ll find the Dolled Up Salon, where dolls can get their hair styled. From simple brushing and braids to more elaborate looks, itโ€™s a fun experience that makes the visit feel extra special.

โฐ Plan Enough Time to Explore

Give yourself at least 1โ€“2 hours to explore the whole store. Between the displays, the dollhouse area, the salon, and all the shopping options, thereโ€™s a lot to see.

๐ŸŽ‰ Check for Special Events

The Dallas location sometimes hosts seasonal activities and themed events, like crafting or holiday celebrations. If your trip lines up with one of these, it can make your visit even more memorable.

๐Ÿ“ธ Bring Your Camera

There are so many adorable photo opportunities throughout the store, especially if your kids love capturing memories with their dolls.

๐Ÿงณ Bring an extra suitcase

We learned this lesson the hard way! If you are planning to shop then make sure you can fit what you purchase in your luggage . Itโ€™s always good to have some extra space just to be sure.

Best Photo Spots in the American Girl Dallas Store ๐Ÿ“ธ

If your kids love photos (or if youโ€™re a blogging mom like me!), there are several fun spots throughout the store that make perfect picture moments.

๐Ÿ“š The Oversized Storybook Bench

One of our favorite spots was the giant open book seat. It looks like youโ€™re sitting inside a storybook and makes such a fun and unique photo.

๐Ÿ  The Two-Story Dollhouse

The large two-level dollhouse display is one of the coolest features of the Dallas store. Itโ€™s colorful, detailed, and a great backdrop for photos.

๐ŸŽจ The Dear Giana Mural

The bright mural by local teen artist Dear Giana adds so much personality to the store. Itโ€™s colorful and fun and makes a great backdrop.

๐Ÿ’‡ The Salon Area

If your doll is getting a hairstyle at the salon, be sure to snap a photo of the transformation!

๐Ÿ“– The Doll & Book Wall

The wall filled with framed pictures of American Girl dolls and their books is both beautiful and nostalgicโ€”especially for longtime fans of the brand.

These moments of laughter, imagination, and time together truly are gifts.

American Girl Doll Store ~Los Angeles ~Review

American girl just released their Disney Doll Collection and it was perfect timing with our trip to Disneyland. We knew we needed to plan a detour here to not only visit the flagship store but also to treat our little to some Disney Magic for her doll . She loved it all!

After checking out the whole store, she was able to narrow down her choices and pick a beautiful new Cinderella dress for her doll to wear for Disneyland โœจIt was so much fun! Have you seen these sets? They are so beautiful and come with so many unique accessories. They are $55 each set and considering the quality and the accessories I feel like itโ€™s a great deal . The dolls are $125 each but again such a great value for what you are getting!

Our little has been on her own agenda with wanting to visit all the @americangirlbrand stores when we travel and so Los Angeles ofcourse was on her list! The Los Angeles store is located in Westfield Century City and is absolutely beautiful! .The mall is in the heart of Los Angeles so grab coffee before driving there as traffic is almost always crazy. This past year we also visited the Nashville and Washington DC stores.

There are two floors ..the main floor is where the salon and shopping is . And the salon has ear piercing and hairstyles for both the girl and their doll. There is also pet pampering too!!

Check out our reel โฌ‡๏ธ

The second floor is the cafe where you can have brunch, lunch or our favorite Teatimeโค๏ธ

Marie-Grace~American Girl Doll History classโญ๏ธ

Marie-Grace & Cecile from @americangirlbrand was one of our Dolls of the Month.
.
The story takes place in 1853 in New Orleans and is full of history, an epidemic, and a friendship that transcended all social barriers at that time.

Most of the people in New Orleans at that time spoke French so it was fun learning a little french and speaking it at our tea party.

For our tea party we served chocolate drizzled croissants , scones and walnuts ( for our take on pralines)

We played a game from American Girl instead of doing the vocabulary bingo and the girls loved it!

The girls then decorated masquerade mask for their dolls and for themselves.

Such a fun day!

Felicity~American Girl Doll History

Felicity

Recently ,we had the opportunity to learn about Felicity Merriman for our American Girl Doll History Class.
.
It was so fun going back in time to Williamsburg, Va and taking a peek inside Colonial living and what it would have been like living in Felicitys time.
.
We jumped right in and started with making our butter and our spiced almonds.

.
The butter took lots and lots of shaking the heavy cream .. then letting it sit and then shaking throughout which gave us two products, A cream to use with our scones and then shaking some more produced the butter.

.
We also worked on coating the almonds in between the butter so we rotated everyone through to have a chance to make the spiced nuts.

.
While the spiced nuts cooked, we sat down to have our tea party . We enjoyed scones with raspberry compote( our version of the raspberry flummery) and the cream from our shaking. We also enjoyed Felicityโ€™s Liberty Tea which is actually red Raspberry leaf tea without any added sweeteners. We also talked about proper tea service and table setting , something Felicity would have learned at her Tea lessons. Itโ€™s fun seeing how these simple traditions are carried through time.
.

Below are some helpful links, the recipes, printables , books and activities,I used in classโญ๏ธ

American Girl Doll History~Kirsten

We recently learned about Kirsten for our American Girl History class.
.
@americangirlbrand Kirsten series is a wonderful story with historical roots . Her story starts as a family immigrating from Sweden and gives you glimpses of what it was like to be on board a boat headed for America.
.
It was a wonderful read with some hard parts of loss and what is was like in that time era.
.
Our Tea Party was pioneer themed. We had heart shaped cakes , cheese and crackers.

The heart shaped cakes were based on the Little House on the Prairie and the heart shaped cakes that Laura received in her stocking. The pioneers treasured flour and sugar and so it was a fun way to incorporate this treat into the Kirsten Tea Party.
.
While the girls enjoyed their treats and tea, we shared our favorite moments from the books.
.
We then played a fun bingo with vocabulary words on the bingo sheet that were from the books. This was a fun part that really helped reinforce what they had learned and it gave the girls a chance to earn class money to use in the class store.
.
The girls also had the opportunity to learn to sew. They made aprons to match their dolls. This was the perfect craft for this time era since aprons were such a big part of the pioneers and their daily lives.

We then finished up by ๐Ÿ› shopping. The girls had the opportunity to use the money they had earned to buy items for their dolls โค๏ธ

American Girl Doll, Book

American Girl Doll History ~Melody

This month we learned about Melody @americangirlbrand as our doll of the month
.
We read through the books then came together to have a tea party and talk about what we learned about Melody.
.
The books were well done and we learned about some of the civil rights movement through Melodys eyes and what her family experienced
.
One of my favorite parts of the book that made me cry was when her grandfather talked about how the night before the Emancipation Proclamation was to be signed , how they stayed up all night knowing in a few hours there would be freedom. It became known as the Watch Night.
.
Itโ€™s hard to understand that anyone would be treated that way but it was good for us to talk about it as a class and how we can respond
.
For our tea party, the table was decorated like a block party with lemon plates and napkins just like Melody and her friends did:) There were double chocolate cupcakes just like Melodyโ€™s birthday cake.. Yum!
.
One of the things Melody loved to do was to work in her grandfathers flower shop . So we made a flower shop where the girls could all make their own arrangements just like Melody did. It turned out so fun and the girls had a great time picking and choosing flowers
.
Then it was time to shop! The girls had a great time shopping with and for their dolls. They earned class money from reading the the books, learning about the state Melody was from and doing some worksheets to go along with the bookโค๏ธ

Learning to Pipe Frosting ~American Girl Doll~Grace

Learning to pipe was another fun activity we did at our American Girl Doll history class as we were learning about Grace @americangirlbrand
.
Grace loves to bake and gets the chance to work in her uncleโ€™s patisserie in Paris.. how fun!
.
I printed these sheets and then laminated them so the girls could pipe directly on them.
.
When planning the details,a friend suggested having them decorate graham crackers since they were easy to hold and flat.It worked out great! Thank you sweet friendโค๏ธ

Below are the printables for the piping from hanielas.com and the products I ordered from Amazon for the class. By clicking on the Amazon links below, we will receive a portion of your purchase. Thank you for supporting usโœจ

American Girl Doll History -Kaya

We hosted our first American Girl Doll History Class recently. Our doll of the month was Kaya and we had a fun time learning all about her tribe the Nez Perce.
.
The girls are sent their monthly work they can do at home and then once a month ,I host a Tea Party where we can come together and talk about the doll of the month and what we learned. The girls also earn class money from doing their homework, answering questions and the vocabulary bingo that they can then purchase items for their dolls. So fun!
.
Our Tea Party food is based on what Kaya would have eaten such as seeds, berries and popcorn.
.
We then cleanup and do an activity that Doll would have done.. for Kaya we did weaving.
.
Then the girls shopped and chatted .. it was a wonderful time!

Here are some of the Kaya item we used ..by clicking on the links below we will receive a portion of your sale. Thanks for supporting us โœจ
